Firstly a huge thanks to everyone who entered our holding slide competition. We have all really enjoyed looking at your entries. In case you haven’t had the opportunity to view all the entries be sure to check out the Flickr group.
It’s been tough but we have picked our top ten and would now like you to choose the winner. Simply select your favourite and vote for the slide you would like to win. The poll will close at midnight next Wednesday (22nd April).

Some cracking entries in the whole contest let alone the final 10, for me it was a toss up between the London Bus, the 2nd design and the cursor arrows.
Which did i pick? Now that would be telling, good luck to all the entrants
I really like #2 because it’s about the conference attendees themselves, cleverly referencing the things we all do between (and, let’s face it, during) presentations.
The bus might make a good ad for London tourism, but “what are you doing?” is perfect for a holding slide: “the static graphic we display between sessions whilst the MC is introducing the next speaker and we are swapping out laptops.” (Besides which, a fair number of attendees will be FROM London, and as weary of bus/guard iconography as Aussies are of the Sydney opera house.)
Great work! I like the second one best. It’s not just a collection of things to do, but the slide itself gives you something to do during the break just looking at all the different icons.
Also, I wish there were links to these designers’ websites… I’d love to be able to check out more work by most of the folks here!
hmm i like lots of the entries – visually but i voted for eyedea – for illustration/typography sytle
shame the icons are so small – would like to see more details of these slides
Thanks for including the pickuptruck! If I didn’t have a personal obligation to vote for my own, I’d pick Simon Menhinick’s (even though I thought they were ants at first).
Thanks for such a good shortlist! If I had to choose then guess it would be eyedea’s its just so fresh and optimistic… qualities that are so evident in much web work today and which we all need more in these times of gloom. Looking forward to a great event. JW

Agreed, the bus and arrows are the two best. But I’m going with the bus, because how can you not?

Gabi totally rocked. In fact, so did Kassy, but I wish, his work’d be more FOWA-related.
