Future of Web Design New York Vimeo Competition

Carsonified has teamed up with Vimeo to offer one lucky web designer a FREE conference pass to next weeks Future of Web Design conference in New York. To enter all you have to do is record a maximum of 30 seconds worth of video explaining what you think “the future of web design” is and then add it to the competition group.

Our favourite entry will win a free conference pass to conference on November 17th in New York City. Check out the Vimeo blog post for full details.

  It’s interesting that if this competition involved opening Photoshop, the ‘Spec-Police’ would be out in force.

  Why is opening iMovie or another video program and thinking of a creative submission any different?

  I feel like in order for this to be considered “speculative” work it would have to involve some degree of speculation (i.e. upfront investment in hope of future profit). There’s no promise of future payment or future work for the winner (except, perhaps, exposure and the chance at a conference pass). And if Carsonified do turn this into some sort of promotional highlight reel, more than just the one “winner” will benefit from the exposure.

  Also, they’re not asking for professional submissions here, so this is no more degrading to the profession of videography(?) than a coloring contest would be to professional design.

  Like Jason said, this competition doesn’t promise a future the winner when they go to the conference. BUT it’s still way awesome that Carsonified and Vimeo are thoughtful enough to give the opportunity to someone to go to the conference who is interested in the subject of the future of web design.
