Twiggy Week – Let the mobile widget madness begin
We’ve kicked off Twiggy Week here at Carsonified HQ. We’re building a mobile widget that uses the Twitter Search API.
Here are some TwitPics of the current state of the design (early stages). Mike will be regularly taking screenshots of the design.
I interviewed Mike and Elliott to get their thoughts:
Also, we’ll be Qik’ing throughout the week, so here’s our first video.

The problem you will run into with jQuery is that a seperate 17kb or thereabouts download to a mobile device is going to be slow as latency is a real big problem in real world usage of mobile internet.
There was an article from the engineers behind flickr, about their experiences with building a mobile interface to flickr.

Might be some help.
And if you just want jQuerys selector engine to work with, consider just using sizzle. http://sizzlejs.com/

Excellent work guys, this app sounds like it will be quite beneficial to the wider community. Looking forward to seeing how it’s built and the finished project :)

Adrian, the app is packaged and stored locally on the phone, so downloading it isn’t a problem!
